The 77^th Georgian Women's Chess Championship has officially opened at the Nona Gaprindashvili Chess Palace. Almost all the leading chess players of the country take part in the championship.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Shalva Gogoladze, President of the European Chess Union, Zurab Azmaiparashvili and President of the Georgian Chess Federation, Gia Giorgadze along with current and veteran chess players.

Alongside the opening of the championship, the International Chess Day was celebrated in Vera Garden. The presentation of the book "Success from year to year" (authors: Gia Giorgadze, Davit Gurgenidze, Elene Bilikhodze, Sopho Nikoladze) was also held. The book summarizes the successes of Georgian chess from 2008 to 2019.
