In 2016, 140
years have passed since the first printing of “Deda Ena” created by Iakob
Gogebashvili in 1876. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia, Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts and Ivane
Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, organized a youth conference
“Gogebashvili Pedagogy – Current Challenges”.
The aim of the
conference was to popularize the National Center of Manuscripts as one of the
most important institutions for the researchers, as well as displaying the idea
of Gogebashvili’s pedagogy, and to showcase to the youth that current problems
often be solved with clues found in History.
It is important
to note, that the conference covered the regions as well. The conference
presented an alternative viewpoint on Iakob Gogebashvili’s career and his work.
For example, an analysis was presented comparing the contemporary “Deda Ena” to
the first printed edition.
In addition, an
exhibition was opened, which presented the private archive of Iakob
Gogebashvili, his memoirs, letters and private works.
The guests also had the opportunity
to get acquainted with the animated software regarding the “Deda Ena” – an
animated script about the author and his great work, created with the use of
modern technologies. It is important to create such animations for the youth,
to which modern technologies are a part of their daily lives.
