
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Lia Gigauri
hosted the Greek delegation, headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
of Greece Terence Nicolaos Quick.
At the beginning of the working meeting, Lia Gigauri expressed
her gratitude to the Greek party for their hospitality in Greece last November
and expressed satisfaction with the decision on teaching of Georgian language
in Athens and Thessaloniki public schools.
During the working meeting held at the Ministry of Education and
Science of Georgia, the cooperation between the countries enhanced in recent
years has been assessed positively and it was also noted, that this cooperation
will be strengthened and expanded in the direction of specific educational
projects.
Satisfaction was also expressed at the meeting concerning the
Greek and Georgian language classes in several schools of both counties. In
addition, Lia Gigauri talked about the novelty, planned by the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia for Georgian diaspora abroad. In particular,
organization of special online lessons for Georgian children in Greece is
planned in the nearest future. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece
positively assessed the idea and welcomed such programs for the purpose of
teaching the Greek language for the numerous Diasporas in the world. Finally,
the meeting was evaluated productively by the parties.
