
The state flag of Georgia has appeared on the official
website of European Week of Sport - Georgia is one of the first non-EU
countries that joined Europe's most active week of sport.
The European Week of Sport, is organized annually since
2015 by the European Commission and promotes sports and physical activity
throughout Europe.
This year, on 23-30 September, numerous events of various
sports will be held in 32 different countries, simultaneously. The list of all
events will be posted on the official website in the nearest future.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of
Georgia is the coordinator of various events in Georgia.
European Week of Sports is organized for everyone,
regardless of their age, experience in sports, or physical training level. The
campaign is conducted with the utilization of the following hashtag #Be Active
and urges the residents to live their lives in a healthy way.
In 2018, 32 countries participate in the event. Since
2015 to date, 37,518 various events and 14,603,172 participants have been
registered. This year, the campaign supports up to 40 international
organizations such as the European Olympic Committee, European Paralympic
Committee, Special Olympiad, European Handball Federation, International
University Sports Association, European Athletics Federation, European Football
Associations Union and many more.
