As part of his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikhanadze, met with Georgian and Azerbaijani students participating in a joint summer camp in the city of Guba.
Minister Givi Mikhanadze, alongside the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Farid Gayibov, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of implementing joint youth initiatives to further strengthen the cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
"The fact that so many talented young people have come together and are spending time in such an engaging and enjoyable way once again demonstrates the strong, harmonious, and friendly relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan. We have reached an exceptional level of mutual understanding and cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan, based on shared interests, historical ties, and a deep-rooted friendship between our nations.
I am confident that this camp will serve as a catalyst for lasting connections among students. We remain dedicated to advancing joint educational and youth initiatives, with camps like this, and other diverse programs, thus becoming an integral part of a long-term, structured collaboration” - stated Minister Mikhanadze.
In his remarks, the Minister also highlighted the crucial role played by the Presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan, Mikheil Kavelashvili and Ilham Aliyev, in the realization of the camp. He noted that the successful implementation of the initiative was made possible thanks to their support and encouragement.
Givi Mikhanadze expressed his gratitude to Minister Farid Gayibov for the fruitful cooperation, noting that this exemplary partnership will continue. He also announced that Georgia will soon host the next cohort of Georgian and Azerbaijani students.
The meeting with the students was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze.
The summer camp is being held across three locations in Azerbaijan: Guba, Baku, and Sumgait, as part of the Georgian-Azerbaijani Youth Week. A total of 90 students are participating in the program, which includes excursions, sports, educational and cultural activities, as well as a youth forum.
Launched on July 22 and concluding on July 27, the Georgian-Azerbaijani Youth Week offers students the opportunity to explore each other’s cultures, deepen youth connections, and share experiences across borders.
