Tbilisi Open University granted the
titles of honorary doctors to Vice Speaker of Parliament of Georgia, Rusudan
Kervalishvili, Mr. Chen Jianfu,
Ambassador of People’s Republic of China and Head of EUSR Office Tbilisi,
Angey Tishhkevich.
The
Deputy Minister, Irine Kurdadze, awarded the winners of 6th annual- International Young Inventors Project Olympiad
(IYIPO 2012)” with personal computers.
This
year, the certified teachers of natural sciences will take exams in
experimental piece of physics, chemistry and biology and will receive surplus
of 75GEL to their salaries.
Preparing for 2012 International
Olympiads has begun; 75 VIII-XII
graders participated in the selection round, held in Tbilisi Public school #51.
The teams will be formed out of those students who will score the highest points
in the respective round organized at national level.
Today, certified teachers will
take integrated exam in the English language and computer literacy. Those
teachers who successfully pass the exam will receive surplus to their salaries
in the amount of 125GEL;
School Session of European
Youth parliament is being held for April 28-30. The Session has been opened in
school “Olymp” today and has been attended by the representative of the
Ministry, Head of National Curriculum and General Education Development
Department, Mrs. Natia Jokhadze.
President of Georgia and Head
of Georgian Parliament have opened Chaghlar Educational Institutions International
Young Inventors and Scientist 6th International Olympiad. The Olympiad will be
held for three days and candidates from 31 countries will participate in it.
In the scope of “Summer Jobs Program”, Ministry of Economy will hire
2500 students. Today, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development
Vera Kobalia and First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia Koka Sepherteladze met with the participants of the project.
Vera Kobalia personally informed the students about their future jobs
and responsibilities.
President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili visited State Agricultural
University of Georgia, observed modern labs and stressed the huge
importance of Agriculture Education in the future development of the

Ministry of Education and
Science of Georgia has approved the schedule for High School leaving Exams, MA
and Teacher Certification Exams. High School leaving Exams will begin on May 21
and end on May 30.

SROs have joined construction of Queen Virgin Church at “Makhata” mountain. 300 SROs have been cleaning the church site all day long. SROs have planted Cypress trees in the vicinity of the site as well.

vocational college “Akhali Talga” was opened by the President of Georgia

Georgian participants won third place in Microsoft Partners in

The winners of the contest for the creation of a logo and slogan for the state Anti Drug campaign have been revealed. Author of the slogan – “Chose life and not drugs” is 12th grader of Tbilisi Public School # 59, Giorgi Osefashvili.
The Bank of Georgia will issue 25 000 plastic salary cards for the participants of the Summer Job program. At the same time, the students can use this card while performing different bank operations in Georgia and abroad.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Agency for Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development under Ministry has constructed a new school in the village of Kvabgha, Chokhatauri. Deputy Minister, Nodar Surguladze visited the newly built school.

The Ministry of Education and Science held a presentation of the new web site” www.blogger.ge. The site was launched as a part of the “Blogger’s House” concept that aims at raising awareness on using internet for educational purpose.
On the initiative of the President of Georgia, a Center for Professional Retraining is being constucted in Gldani. The Minister, Dimitri Shashkini observed the ongoing constuction works on site today.
A pretest is conducted in 170 schools throughout Georgia from April 6th to April 13th. Twelfth graders will have opportunity to take pre exam tests before the actual exams.
School students of Tbilisi Public School № 105 performed a play in order
to pay tribute to fallen soldiers of War of August 2008. Mother of
fallen soldier – Vakhtan Gzirishvili attended the play.
Students registered in Summer Job program, should sign a labor agreement

Austrian teachers visited TPDC
to get acquainted with implemented reforms in the education system of Georgia. The
first deputy minister, Koka Seperteladze, welcomed the guests and introduced them
to the on-going and future reforms in the education sector.
41,000 teachers will take certification examinations in 2012. This number
has doubled since last year. All subject teachers, without exception, have the opportunity to take certification exams in the English language and computer skills.

The number of Armenian and Azeri entrants registered for the National Unified Exams has increased since last year. Most of the Azeri and Armenian entrants decided to continue their study in the new program.
Georgia hosted its first international
conference on inclusive education; the aim of the conference was to discuss inclusive education issues and to provide a forum for sharing international practices.

For the Unified National Exams this year, 73% of entrants registered to take a foreign language exam in the English language, 17% in Russian,
7% German, and 3% in French.

exams are over. 41,000 persons registered for the teacher certification exams; this is twice as much as the previous year.

Caucasus Youth Parliament. Students from Armenia and Georgia voted on a joint declaration that they will present to the European Parliament in Brussels.

The National Democratic Institute has
conducted research in Georgia, which found that 46% of the Georgian population thinks that the level of education in the
country has increased. 71% of the respondents consider that questions of
education are actively discussed by politicians.
Higher educational institutions
of Georgia have joined the Anti-Drug Campaign. Today, the student-government of
Georgian Technical University (GTU) held the campaign “Sport vs Drugs” in the
yard of administrative building of GTU.
Starting in the new academic year, a new
Physica-Mathematical school will be opened in Telavi. The school will start
operation on the basis of the fully rehabilitated Telavi Public School #3.

village Khovle.
An International School of Design will be opened in Georgia as part of the Georgian Technical University. The school will be under the
patronage of the famous automobile designer Giorgetto Giugiuaro.

The Georgia Central Public Health Reference Laboratory
(CPHRL) is the result of a collaborative effort between the Government of the
United States and the Government of Georgia. The facility was established with
the financial support of the US Department of Defense.
Professors of leading European Universities are delivering
lectures in clinical and basic medicine at Tbilisi State University as part
of a project initiated by the President of Georgia.
Art Week was launched by the initiative of
the school resource officers (SRO). As part of
this celebratory week, resource officers will visit museums together with students from different schools.
The Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia, with the support of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), is
implementing the project “Supporting Development of Pre-Schools Education
Sector at Local Levels.
The certification process of the staff of the Ministrys Internal Audit Departmenti has concluded. All employees of this staff have successfully passed their required tests. To
recognize their achievement, the Minister, Dimitri Shashkini, personally
awarded a breastplate to the six best employees.
Representatives
of twenty-five international universities are visiting Georgia. Today, Minister of
Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini and other members of
Georgian Government met the foreign guests and discussed with them the concept
of establishing a Technical University in Batumi.
Chairman of the Parliament of
Georgia Davit Bakradze and Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri
Shashkini opened a Language House in the village Iormughanlo of Sagarejo
Municipality and laid the foundation of two new schools in the villages Iormughanlo
and Lambalo.
A Law Olympiad was held
today with the support of the Tbilisi City Court and the Ministry of Education and
Science. Main goals of the Olympiad include establishing ties among prospective lawyers and the court, enhancing
the knowledge of law students and developing their professional skills, and preventing crime.
Project
Harmony Inc. (PH International) in Georgia has been implementing the Applied
Civic Education and Teacher Training Program since 2010. The Program is being operated in collaboration with support
the Ministry of Education and Education and Science of Georgia, with the financial
support of USAID.
In order to prepare
teachers for certification exams, the National Center for Teacher Professional
Development organizes seminars and trainings for teachers throughout Georgia.
Today, the Minister attended a training for experimental methodology and the development
of professional skills.
An exhibition of photos taken by teachers and school students was held in the Tbilisi
Classical Gymnasium. Money gathered from the charity event has been transferred
to the account of the Union of Parents of Oncological- Hematological Patients.
