Newly opened Technological University of Batumi
hosted a forum. The participants of the forum included successful Georgian
scientists working abroad and 80 researchers working in Georgia.
From now
on school busses will serve public schools in four villages of
Khashuri municipality. Children living in villages Khtsisi,
Kriskhevi, Mitsobi and Osiauri, used to walk to school of Khtsisi for years.
The final round of international competition “Leonardo Da Vinci 2012” was
held. It was initiated by President of Georgia. The most innovative works were
exhibited in Expo-Georgia Pavilion.
Modern-standard
vocational College was opened in Gldani. The initiative of building a college
belongs to President of Georgia and it will function under the patronage of the
President.

In the 2012 academic year, 83 “Future
Classes” will be opened throughout Georgia. Multifunctional “future classrooms”
will be opened in every public school of major cities. Today the minister of
Education and Science of Georgia Khatia Dekanoidze visited a new “future classroom”
in public school #24.
2012-2013 academic year 41 272, first
graders and 3078 of their teachers will receive net books. Distribution of
computers is taking place all throughout Georgia which is processing by
Georgian Post.
The Ministry of Education and Science announced
the new deadline for registration in professional programs at the 4th
and 5th levels. The registration will be completed on September 20th
instead of the 15th which will help contribute to everyone registering
for his or her desired vocational program.
Georgian
President Mikeil Saakashvili held a meeting with certified teachers at Gldani
vocational college today. At the meeting, Saakashvili spoke about the coming
changes in the education system, which are set to occur in the future
A few days before the beginning of the new academic year The Minister of
Education and Science held a meeting with teachers of public school #3 in
Chiatura. During the meeting the Minister discussed the current reforms in the
education system.
For the students who had passed the minimum
competency level in 4 exams (3 necessary and 1 optional), it is now possible to
make a new choice and become a student despite the level of competition.
24,000 students who applied to
universities have passed the United National Examinations in 2012. Due to the
high level of competition within the full range of programs, some students who
passed the fixed limits and got high scores could not apply. Accordingly, there
are vacancies in different universities throughout Georgia.
The Rotary Club “Tbilisi
International” was created in 2009, and today is a member of the World’s Rotary
Clubs system, which is composed of more than 34,000 clubs. The aim of the
movement is to participate in humanitarian activities throughout the world.
The Minister of Education and Science
of Georgia Khatia Dekanoidze met with US Senator John McCain, Joseph Lieberman
and Lindsey Graham. The Minister took them on a tour of Batumi International
Technological University.
The
ministry of Education and Science has defined new deadlines for mobility. Based
on the order of the Ministry of Education and Science about “determination of
students’ mobility”, it can be accomplished twice per calendar year, from June
15th to September 11th, and from December 25th
to January 20th.

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia would like to make a clarification
regarding the claim of delegate Dimitri Lortkipanidze that was spread by the
agency “Pirveli” about the first term for the registration of a child in
General Education Institutions, defined from April 2nd to June 17th,
2012.
For the first time, textbooks will be
sold in 400 public schools throughout Georgia this year. The books will be
distributed in such a way that the children from neighboring schools will have
the opportunity to buy books as well.
On September 4th The
Ministry of Education and science held a meeting with the entrants who hadn’t
passed the 2012 National Exams and therefore were not able to become students.
Today, the Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia Khatia Dekanoidze was in the Kaxeti region. She met with the
students from the families who were victims of natural disasters and informed
them that all of their learning fees will be fully funded by the Government.
Certificate
exams for 2012 are over. This year, certificates will be given to approximately
8000 teachers, which is 2.5 times more than last year. The teachers will be
able to see their results using their 9-digit identification code on the
following websites: www.naec.ge, www.tpde.ge.
Autumn registration in vocational education
has begun throughout Georgia. Volunteers willing to acquire vocational
education will be granted vouchers in the amount of 1000 GEL and will have the
opportunity to study at preferred educational institutions.
The Georgian president’s “Supporting Gifted
and Talented Youth program” continues with the Ministry of Education and
Science passing out gold and silver medals to excellent school-graduates.
The final results of the 2012 National
Exams have been announced. In the 2012-2013 school year 24,501 entrants became
students. The above mentioned is a 5% percent increase compared to last year.
The 2012-2013 academic year will begin
on September 17th in all public schools throughout Georgia. Schools
are already preparing for the starting of classes, planning to pick up where
they left off.
The memorandum signed between The Ministry
of Education and Science of Georgia and Armenia announced vacancies for masters
and PHD programs in higher education institutions of Armenia
The Summer Job Program for students,
initiated by the Georgian President, is now over. Today President Saakashvili
addressed the participants of the program in Anaklia, making remarks on their
prospective futures and drawing attention to additional educational programs.
Regarding
the “School Safety Program,” the Ministry of Education and Science announced vacancies
for resource officer positions in the following regions: Marneuli, Bolnisi, Gardabani, Dmanisi, Tsalka
and Tetritskaro.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Khatia Dekanoidze has
started holding introductory meetings with teachers of Tbilisi and
regions. During the meetings, Minister discusses the current reforms in
the education system.
Teachers
took a test in professional skills as a part of the certification exams. The
certification exams started on July 2th. Out of 40 000 registered teachers, 32
000 took a test in professional skills.

started with the exam in Professional Skills. Head of National Examination
Center Khatia Dekanoidze and Director of National Center for Teacher

center and observed the examination process.

Georgian
teams are getting ready for international Olympiads 2012. 19 school students will be participating in
Physics, Math, Informatics and Biology Olympiads.
In the scope of the grant contest, initiated by Shota Rustaveli National
Science Foundation web-site www.qim.ge has been created. The web-site
contains the information on Georgian public and political figures of
IV-XVIII centuries.
Throughout Georgia, Unified Entry Exams will start on June 28 and

This time, the successful school students of
Mtskheta-Mtianeti region received gifts from the President. First Deputy
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Sepherteladze, presented 17
tenth graders of Mtskheta-Mtianeti public schools with personal computers.
This time, the successful school students of Ozurgeti municipality
received gifts from the President. Deputy Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze, presented 23 tenth graders of
Ozurgeti public schools with personal computers. The representatives of
the local municipality also took part in awarding ceremony.
100 “Future Classrooms” will be opened throughout
Georgia. At the moment, Education and Scientific Infrastructure Development
Agency is rehabilitating and technically equipping 20 “Future Classrooms” in
Shida Kartli region.
Rolf-Dieter Heuer General Director of European organization of Nuclear
Research (CERN) visited International Scientific Summer School in
Bakuriani. He answered the questions of the questions of the school
students and delivered the lecture.
The Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions joined a
celebration of International Day against drug abuse. On the initiative
of the SROs, a marathon was organized to mark this event.
The successful school students of Adjara received gifts from the
President. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar
Surguladze, presented 151 tenth graders of Adjara public schools with
personal computers.
The
Minister, Dimitri Shashkini visited a computer factory “Algorithm” together
with prospective first graders and observed a process of assembling the

School
Resource officers joined rafting championship which was held in Borjomi. Up to
100 persons took part in the competition. The resource officers and adults used
the same raft to navigate in a river.
During Unified Entry Exams, 2
examination centers will be operating in Kutaisi. Overall 17 examination
centers will be open throughout Georgia. Kutaisi examination centers will
be located in buildings of Kutaisi State University and Andria Razmadze Kutaisi
Public School #41.
Construction of a new, modern school started
in the village of Mirashkhani, Aspindza Municipality. First Deputy Minister,
Koka Seperteladze closely observed the site of construction and met the village

Kutaisi.
Public
Service Halls and respective agencies of the Civil Registry started to issue general
education authentication documents. The school graduates shall submit the ID
card to receive the document.
Distribution of examination cards for Unified Entry,
Graduate Records and Teachers’ Certification exams has started. 12th graders will be able to receive the cards at
their schools while high school graduates of previous year along with teachers
will get the examination cards at regional Education Resource Offices.

“Introduce your country to tourists” for the school students of basic
and secondary education levels.
The Prime Minister of
Georgia visited the vocational college “Spektri” and met the prospective
students who had registered for the institution as a part of a second phase of
voucher funding system initiated by the President. Mr. Nika Gilauri together
with these persons saw different shops located in the college.
From Tbilisi International
Airport Terminal, the sealed tests of Unified Entry and Graduate Record
Examinations have been distributed to Tbilisi and regional police offices.
A new examination model is
being worked out in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Today
working group members of the Strategic board have discussed a new model of the
unified national examination 8+1 initiated by the president of Georgia.
Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia has activated the second phase of distributing vocational education
1000 GEL worth vouchers. At this time, 1500 volunteers will be given a chance
to study at vocational education institutions.
Qualified
workforce will be trained for sewing sector in the vocational college “Iberia”
located in Kutaisi. The initiative will be implemented with support of the
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI), USAID.
The
Minister, Dimitri Shashkini, introduced a new system of exams to the
journalists gathered in the Prime Times office. A new model of exams - 8+1 was
initiated by the President of Georgia.
From June13, 2012, National Examination Center will hold open doors days
for all entrants, candidates of Master Degree and teachers taking
certification exams. They will be able to meet personally with the
representatives of the center, heads of subject groups and experts and
get the necessary information regarding the exams.

new academic year, 250 school students will be able to study at the new school.

On the initiative of the resource officers, a week of poetry started for
the school students. The first day of the week was held jointly by the
students of various schools and young poets.
Early Childhood Education and Development Week was opened in Mtatsminda
park. The event is being held with support of the Ministry of Education
and Science of Georgia and UNICEF.

the contest for the Presidential grant for young scientists.
Civil club “21th century” was established in Dimitri Uznadze Tbilisi
public school №22. The club hosted a presentation of media center “
Liberta” . The event was attended by club members, teachers, and invited
guests. The civil club is supplied with the proper facilities.
A three year Education Management
Project (EMP) project that aimed at increasing effectiveness of managing the
education system has been accomplished successfully. The project was
implemented by Chemonics
International, Inc and supported by USAID and Ministry of Education and
Science.
Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri and Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia presented foreign volunteer teachers of the program
“Teach and Learn with Georgia” with certificates upon the successful
completion of 2011-2012 academic year.
