A memorial plaque to the renowned composer Anzor Erkomaishvili was unveiled at the State Folklore Centre in Ozurgeti in honour of his work and distinctions. The memorial plaque was unveiled by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili and Anzor Erkomaishvili's wife, Lali Seturidze. The event was attended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, Tea Tsulukiani, the Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, representatives of the executive and legislative bodies.
Anzor Erkomaishvili made significant contributions to the Georgian culture. He was a famous musician, composer, researcher and publisher of recordings of Georgian songs in various archives around the world, founder of the ensembles "Rustavi" and "Manage", and an educator of many generations. Under his leadership and with the funding of the Cartu Charitable Foundation, a unique scientific paper on national culture “Georgia. History. Culture. Ethnography” was published. Anzor Erkomaishvili has received numerous awards and accolades and has been awarded the Presidential Order of Excellence.
The great Georgian figure Anzor Erkomaishvili died on March 31 of this year, at the age of 80. According to the decision of the Georgian government, Mr. Erkomaishvili was buried in the Mtatsminda Pantheon of Georgian writers and public figures.
