In order to get acquainted with the current processes in the field of vocational education, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, Hubert Knirsch visited the Mermisi College with the representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). Owing to the initiative of the Ambassador, a meeting was also held with vocational students.
According to Hubert Knirsch, the purpose of the visit to the college and the open dialogue was to hear directly from those involved in the vocational education process about the state of the system, its achievements, challenges and needs. According to him, the received information will help the German side to determine what to focus on in the future.
Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, together with Nona Ghudushauri, Director of the College, hosted the meeting. The Georgian side thanked the ambassador and noted that Germany is one of the first partner countries that has made an invaluable contribution to the development of vocational education in Georgia.
Hubert Knirsch, for his part, positively assessed the cooperation with Georgia, called the meetings in the college fruitful and reaffirmed the readiness to support the professional education of our country.
