Registration for vocational education programs is now complete. According to the results, this year, an unprecedented number of applications were submitted, up to 19 thousand applicants. IT, nursing, culinary and maritime logistics are particularly popular this year.
The number of those wishing to receive vocational education has increased by 100% this year compared to previous years, which is a result of the measures taken by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in the field of vocational education. It should be noted that the number of offered places has almost doubled this year.
According to the Deputy Minister, Tamar Kitiashvili, it is especially gratifying that high activity is observed in the regions. In addition, there is an increased demand for integrated programs that allow applicants with basic education to obtain a diploma equivalent to a high school diploma upon completion of the program:
"The high activity of applicants proves that the image of vocational education is changing, and vocational education is becoming even more popular. The reason for this is that our country is approaching the European standard of vocational education - our future students will find modern infrastructure, modern programs and the environment in their colleges that will help them succeed in their future career!” - said Tamar Kitiashvili.
At this stage, the process of selecting vocational students has already started, which is mostly conducted in a distance format by the vocational education institutions themselves. In line with the new enrolment rule and the new concept of student selection, colleges will use a variety of student selection methods, depending on the specifics of the programs, such as: motivational interviews, creative and special tours, practical case analysis, and so on. As for the national testing, which applies only to higher professional programs, the National Center for Assessment and Examinations will conduct in early September in compliance with all safety rules.
It should be emphasized that for the new academic year, sanitary-hygienic norms and a safe environment for practical and theoretical training will be fully observed in all vocational education institutions operating throughout Georgia.
