The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, together with the Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, visited Tbilisi Public School No. 72, where the Ukrainian students were recently enrolled in an expedited manner. These students will continue their studies in Georgia.
The Minister Chkhenkeli together with Giorgi Tkemaladze and the school principal, held a meeting with the students’ parents, listened to the needs of the children in person and discussed the details of providing an appropriate educational environment. During the meeting, the minister introduced the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, according to which a Ukrainian-speaking sector will be opened in Tbilisi for all students from Ukraine.
For their part, the parents thanked the Government of Georgia, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education and Science for the great support and assistance of the Ukrainian people and students.
During the meeting, Mikheil Chkhenkeli noted that as a result of the joint efforts of the Government of Georgia and the Ministry, the enrollment of Ukrainian students to the public and private schools of Georgia is being actively pursued. According to the available data, 215 students of different ages have already been enrolled in Tbilisi and the regions.
Please be reminded that, owing to the decision of the Government of Georgia, students who are unable to continue their general education in Ukraine, due to the ongoing conflict, will have opportunity to do so in Georgia in an expedited and simplified manner.
It should be noted that the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions offers psychosocial counseling services to children from Ukraine. This service is available to students throughout Georgia completely free of charge. In addition, there is a 24-hour hotline provided by the Psychosocial Service Center. It is important to note that as soon as this information was disseminated, dozens of interested individuals applied for the services.
