The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, opened the awarding ceremony for the best Italian language teacher of 2022.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli addressed the audience, congratulated the finalists on their success and thanked them for their contribution to the strengthening of Italian language teaching in Georgia.

It should be noted that Nana Zardiashvili, a teacher of the 31^st public school of Tbilisi, won the title of the best Italian language teacher of 2022. The second place went to the teacher of the 126^th  public school of Tbilisi, Lali Akhvlediani, and the third place went to the teacher of the 112^th public school of Tbilisi and "Lampri" LLC Mariam Gvasalia.

Within the framework of the competition, Rusudan Koinashvili, was awarded with the  honoured teacher award and the special prize established by the Italian Embassy and "Minerva" organization was given to Mariam Macharashvili, the Italian language teacher of the 177th and 71st public schools of Tbilisi.

The best teacher competition is an extremely important initiative aimed at further appreciating the role of teachers and recognizing their work. I am glad that we continue the tradition of the competition and today I have the Honor to personally congratulate the finalists on their success.

I would like to thank the competition's partner organizations - the representatives of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Language Teaching Coordinating Organization "Minerva", who are actively involved in the organization of the competition for the best Italian language teacher every year.

We have many years of fruitful partnership with Italy, and we implement a number of important joint educational projects at all levels of education. I am sure that in the future our cooperation will be further enhanced, which will contribute to the strengthening of educational ties between the countries.

Once again, I would like to heartily congratulate you teachers on the victory, professional advancement, and prosperity!"

Within the framework of the ceremony, special prizes were given to the winning teachers by Mikheil Chkhenkeli, together with the representatives of the partner organizations of the competition.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Georgia Enrico Valvo also took part in the event.

Giovanni Giacomantonio, the vice-president of the Italian language teaching coordinator organization "Minerva", Berika Shukakidze, the head of the National Center for Professional Development of Teachers, and other invited guests also attended the ceremony.

The competition for the best Italian language teacher of 2022 was held at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Professional Development of Teachers. The partners of the competition are the Embassy of Italy in Georgia and the coordinating organization of Italian language teaching "Minerva".

The best teacher competition, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, is held annually by the National Center for Professional Development of Teachers, and its main goal is to popularize the teaching profession, promote the growth of prestige and reveal successful pedagogical practices.
