Deputy Minister Aluda
Goglichidze, head of Commission investigating cases of staff members of public schools and resource
centers who were dismissed on political grounds, made a report for the society.
Special Commission set up in the
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, is composed of the
representatives from the Ministry, civil society organizations and Public
Defender’s office. The commission is scrutinizing notices submitted to the Ministry
or recourse centers (deadline for submission is January 14, 2013). Detailed
information on criteria and the rules for submission of a notice can be found
on the official web-site of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia,
following the tab ‘Legislation’ (resolution #1374) on the web-page.
Up to 1000 notices will be
scrutinized individually by the commission. At present, approximately 150 of
them passed the first stage of the process; next stage will be dedicated to concluding
remarks that will have a character of recommendation. The reason for this is
that the commission makes decisions only in case if the fact of dismissal is or
isn’t proven.
