A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the governments of Georgia and the United States with a view of enacting future cooperation mechanisms in the field of protection and preservation of cultural belongings and heritage. The document was signed today by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Batiashvili and the Chairman of the US Commission on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Paul Packer.
Mikheil Batiashvili - “The United States is the most important partner of our country in the field of education. Within the scope of our close cooperation, major projects in the areas of school reforms, higher education and science promotion are being implemented. Today, however, we have signed a memorandum that will deepen this cooperation, and I am very pleased that after our education with a reliable partner, we will continue to work in the field of cultural heritage. ”
According to Paul Packer, the memorandum reaffirms the great and close cooperation between the two countries, how the US government values Georgia and supports it in a variety of areas, including the protection of cultural heritage. According to him, considering the centuries-old history of Georgia, preservation of heritage is one of the important issues for the country.
