First Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Irine Abuladze held a working meeting with the Regional Representation of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the South Caucasus, which aimed to discuss the future involvement of the European Investment Bank in the complex education reform.
The Deputy Minister briefed the guests on the priorities of the systemic reform, the results achieved, the challenges and future plans.
"The introduction of European standards in the education and science system and the development of human capital in the country is a priority of our government, as education in Georgia must meet local and international labor market requirements. It is important that more international organizations are involved in the reform process." stated Irine Abuladze.
Moreover, the guests talked about the projects funded by the European Investment Bank and expressed their readiness to be actively involved in the implementation of the reform through various infrastructure projects, or projects focused on improving the quality of education in Georgia.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) operates in 150 other countries besides EU member states. It is the only international financial institution that is politically responsible to the European Union. The priority areas of the European Investment Bank are as follows: the climate and environment, innovation and skills, small business and infrastructure. Since 2007, the European Investment Bank has implemented 23 large-scale investment projects in Georgia in the areas of infrastructure and local private sector development, as well as energy efficiency and environmental protection.
