
Award ceremony of the volunteer students who participated in
the competition We Study Together was held at the exhibition hall of Tbilisi
State Academy of Arts in the framework of the project Development of Inclusive
Education in 9 Regional Public Schools.
Development of Inclusive Education in 9 Regional Public
Schools is three-year project (2009-2011). It is carried out throughout the
whole Georgia. Action-competition We Study Together that was implemented in the
scope of the project, was divided in two rounds. The first round – art competition
was held in 10 target schools of all regions of Georgia, where inclusive
education is being developed. Volunteer students of the Academy of Arts, school
children and regional teams of Akhaltsikhe and Khashuri who support inclusive
education painted the walls of the school during the second round that took
place on June 14 – International Day of Disabled People. On the same day,
volunteer students of Batumi University of Arts participated in painting action
in Kobuleti as well.
Head of General and Vocational Education Development
Department, Lali Ebanoidze, Coordinator of the project, Maia
Bagration-Gruzinski and Rector of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Gia Bughadze
attended the event, held at the Academy of Arts. Volunteer students were
awarded with certificates and gifts.
Three winners of each target schools were presented with
symbolic gifts in the scope of the competition. Each school received banners
with the winners’ compositions.
These types of competitions are important for creating
benevolent environment and popularization of inclusive education.
