Georgian Youth Representative delivered a speech at the UN
11.10.2018
At the UN General Assembly, Lika Tikorishvili, a
representative of the Georgian youth in the UN, addressed the third committee
meeting. She urged young people to join the world and to contribute towards
improving the globe. The youth delegation also focused on the importance of
peace building and the Georgian peacekeeping policy.
The Youth Representative Program is considered as one of the UN's successful
initiatives. The UN General Assembly, for the first time in 1981, called on
member states to bring young delegates to the country's official delegations.
The youth delegates, together with delegates of other countries, carry out the
activities and initiatives related to youth problems.
The foundation of the program in Georgia was launched in 2012 and is fully
funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia with
the partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
