
The Ministry of Education
and Science of Georgia with the financial and methodological support of the Ministry
of Education and Research of Norway is starting the process of implementation
of inclusive education in the system of vocational education. A presentation of
“Project of Implementation of Inclusive Education in Vocational Education
System” was held in the Ministry today.
The following activities will be carried out
within the framework of the new initiative the two Ministries:
- creation of legislative readiness for inclusive education;
- providing adequate physical and learning/teaching environment
for inclusive students;
- Development of human
resources necessary for the process of integration of inclusive students in vocational
education institutions, increasing interest and
involvement among employers.
- Piloting pre-vocational education component in
public schools, which means, initiating enterprenual projects and piloting a new
subject “labor skills” in 10 public schools.
The
ministry has been implementing inclusive education in public schools from 2005. Though,
accessibility of inclusive education is of utmost importance. Process of implementation
will encourage integration in society, acquisition of professions and opportunities
of employment.
Representatives
from
Non-governmental sector, Public Defender’s Office, Georgian Lawyers’ Association, USAID an UNICEF
attended the presentation of the project.
