Winners were declared for a competition of Bachelor’s and
Master’s thesis on the subjects of NATO and security issues. The Minister of

The Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, opened a new sewing shop in the Poti Vocational
College “Pazisi”. As a part of a UNDP project, the shop was provided with
modern sewing equipments including machines, smart boards, a smart podium, and more.
Deputy Minister, Ms. Irine Kurdadze,
introduced a new computer game to the schoolchildren of Tbilisi public school №60.
The new game “Art” will be incorporated in school program in parallel with
other school programs and will assist the schoolchildren to learn world art and
culture.

opened a new joinery workshop at the Kutaisi Vocational College “Iberia”. The

President met the school teachers
of Gldani. During the meeting President talked about the building the new
professional development center in Gldani. President will supervise the new
center himself. New center will be opened in May 2012 and all interested people
will be able to pass trainings in technical fields.
Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia announced the contest of the interns. First Deputy Minister of
Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze held the briefing for the
press on this matter.
The
famous Italian expert and industrial designer, Dr. Giancarlo Perini, visited Georgia this week in
order to introduce innovative concepts in science, promote development in
scientific development in higher education, and foster future relationships and
collaborations with Georgia.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia, Giorgi Chakhnashvili, attended a joint lesson of physics-mathematics in
preparation for the international academic Olympic at Tbilisi 1st
Experimental School’s “future class,” and then met with successful

Dimitri Shashkini, and Head of the Teachers Development National Centers, Mr.
Gia Mamulashvili, visited an exceptional teacher of Tbilisi Public School #30,
Mr. Giorgi Kalandadze, at home to wish him a happy St. George’s Day and presented
him with a personal computer.
Preparations for the next cycle of exams have started. Minister Dimitri Shashkini held a working meeting with the members of
the examinations committee focused on high school exams, unified national examinations
and teacher certification exams.
The Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, and the Deputy Minister,
Giorgi Chakhnashvili, met with all principals from private schools to personally introduce them to the Georgian Governments ten-section action-plan. The meeting was
held in the Teacher’s House.
As a part of the project of development tourism in Kakheti,
Resource Officers and Schoolchildren joined the Wine Festival, organized by
National Tourism Agency at Ilia Chavchavadze State Museum. Resource Officers
and 12th graders of schools of Tbilisi took part in different
activities at the festival.

Native English-Speaking Teachers continue to arrive as participants in the
educational program “Teach and Learn with Georgia.” Today, a new group of teachers arrived from different counties around the
world. Native English-speaking teachers from the USA, England, Ireland,
Poland and South Africa will work in the public schools of Imereti, Kakheti and
Samegrelo.
Office of Resource Officers of
General Education Institutions will become the member of International
Association of School Resource Officers. Decision of its membership was made
during the meeting between the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science
of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze and representatives of National Association of
School Resource Officers of the USA (NASRO).
As a part of
their visit to Georgia, representatives of the National Associations of the
School Resource Officers visited Teacher’s House and attended the training of
the Georgian school resource officers in inclusive education.
Representatives
of the National Associations of the School Resource Officers of the USA,
visited Tbilisi 1st
Experimental School, met school resource officers and got familiar with their
every day activities.
Delegation members visited police
academy and saw the training center which offers respective professional
development courses for the school resource officers. The guests also visited Tbilisi
Sea Training Center; the school resource officers undertake courses for
rescuers there.
As a part of the exchange program, around 160 Indian
students will study at Tbilisi State Medical University. Deputy Minister, Nodar
Surguladze, welcomed the students at the Tbilisi International Airport.
Deputy Minister, Mr. Nodar Surguladze, gifted the personal
computers to the winners of the “Georgian
Economic Olympiad 2011”. These students have won the 1st, 2nd
and 3rd places in the Olympiad. Other participants were awarded the
cash prizes. The most succesfull contestants will be employed by the state and
private agencies.
Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini met the representatives
of professional education institutions and introduced ten-section action-plan
of the Government to them. Minister spoke about the reforms undertaken in the
education system; he also covered current projects and talked about future
plans.
A Physics class was held for the schoolchildren of Tbilisi
Public School №42 in the modern Physics Lab at the Teacher’s House. First Deputy
Minister Koka Sepherteladze attended the lesson.

Resource
Officers conducted a drawing competition in the Senaki Boarding School. Resource
Officers and professional artists evaluated 15children’s pieces and announced three
top winners.
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili,
opened a “Geocell” sponsored classroom in the Kvareli Public School №2. This “Geocell”
classroom is equipped with new, modern technology andfeatures an interactive
smart desk and thirteen monitors.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Dimitri Shashkini,
is continuing to introduce the Georgian government’s ten-section
education plan. As part of his efforts, the Minister met teachers and
schoolchildren of the Kvemo Kartli region in the newly built Teachers’

№1. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi
Chakhnashvili; the State Minister of Georgia, Mirza (Papuna) Davitaia attended

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar
Surguladze, gifted “Lenovo” personal computers on behalf of the
President to 130 schoolchildren of the 10th form from the Adjara region. The Minister of Education, Culture, and Sport of Adjara, Gia Abuladze, also took part in the award ceremony.

the renovated website of the National Center for Educational Quality
Enhancement. Minister Dimitri Shashkini introduced the new website to

“Abituri” hours for the 12th form, previously conducted as voluntary
attendance classes, have now become mandatory review sessions in all
subjects for the National High School Exams.
The deputy minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irina Kurdadze;
the President of Georgian Tennis Federation, Leila Meskhi; and the
representative of the International Tennis Federation, Goran Shevchenko
attended the final meeting of the tennis club “GioMir”.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is one of the first
governmental institutions to activate online support service. Today,
Minister Dimitri Shashkini was personally introduced to the working
process of the program.
The Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, talked online to the teachers of Sunday
School in Paris, France. The online conference was arranged at the Teacher’s House and,
together with the Minister, the Director of the National Center for Teacher
Professional Development, Gia Mamulashvili and other invited experts also

The Prime Minister of
Georgia, Nika Gilauri, met public school principals and teachers at the
new Teacher’s House. The goal of the meeting was to discuss a 10-Point Strategic Plan of the Georgian government.

The development of the instruction of Exact and Natural Sciences is one of the priorities of Georgias educational reforms. To acheive this end, the teaching of technical subjects is very
intensive in nationl schools. To encourage higher-quality instruction, schools and higher educational institutions are being
equipped with training-research labs.
The Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Mr. Dimitri Shashkin, and Governor of Shida Kartli Mr. Giorgi Tatishvili awarded 80 senior students of Shida Kartli public
schools with “Lenovo” Computers.
The Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Mr. Dimitri Shashkin, attended a biology interactive
lesson at the 1st Experimental School. The lesson was
held at the “Geocell” classroom, which is equipped with modern technologies.
The project “Facilitate
Vocational Education Development in Georgia” commenced in October
2011 between the Ministries of Education and Science of Georgia and Estonia. A presentation
of the project was held at the “Courtyard Marriott” of Tbilisi.
Amirani Cinema hosted
Resource Officers’ and schoolchildren of the 1
20 Orphanage. The children attended a screening of the movie “Three
Musketeers”. The resource officers also presented schoolchildren with memorable
gifts.
The Director of National
Curriculum and Assessment Center of MES, Natia Jokhadze, attended the "World Culture”
Teachers Training of Tbilisi, Isani-Samgori, Didgori, and Mtskheta schools. The training, orgnized by the national curriculum center,
was held in Tbilisi public school №182.
A master class was held in the Teacher’s House for physics teachers and
students of Tbilisi №199 and № 42 public schools. Experts of CERN
Research Laboratory discussed modern achievements and advanced
technologies in the field of physics.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia-Dimitri Shashkin and
Public Defender –Giorgi Tughushi signed a collaboration memorandum
between the Ministry, Public Defender and National Minority Council.
Students’ encouragement program initiated by the president is being
continued. This time, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science
of Georgia – Koka Seperteladze and Kutaisi Mayor – Gia Tevdoradze awarded
tenth grade students of Imereti region public schools with personal
computers.
The collections of
Georgian written monuments were included in the UNESCO project called
"Memory of the World" in 2011. Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, and UNESCO Secretary General of National Committee,
Ketevan Kandelaki, and the Director of National Center of Manuscript, Buba Kudava,
held a joint briefing on this issue.
The first Deputy of the
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia-Koka Seperteladze, Governor of

Kublashvili opened a new school in Mukhurani village, which meets international

The students of Tbilisi №60

hosted a charity event in the framework of the “Civil activity support program”

The branded schools were identified in the framework of school branding
project initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia organizes tours in Tbilisi,
Kutaisi and Kobuleti professional educational information centres, from
the 19th of October till the end of November.

of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini opened the new science lab in Tbilisi Public
School №60. The laboratory consists of three units. Overall it contains 18 sub
units according to each subject. (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

has announced a new competition as part of its “induction” program.
I. Javakhishvili State University is
hosting the 6th conference on the topic of the new perspectives of
physics. The conference “Physics
in the epoch of Large Hadron Colider” was opened by the Deputy Minister of the
Education and Science of Georgia-Mr. Nodar Surguladze.
The first deputy of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr.
Koka Seperteladze, and the governor of Kvemo Kartli, Mr. Davit Kirkitadze,
awarded almost 70 tenth graders of Kvemo kartli schools by granting
them Lenova personal computers.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Dimitri Shashkin,
awarded the winners of the photo contest: “Beautiful Svaneti” and “I go
to school”- announced for facebook users.
School resource officers continue charity events. This time resource
officers visited the large family of the Karitonishvilis in Telavi. The
resource officers congratulated the seven adults of the large family
with the beginning of the new academic year and presented them clothes,
everyday and school supplies.

Shashkini opened a teaching and scientific lab at the Georgian Technical
University.
Public
School №1 of the village Algeti of Marneuli municipality has been
rehabilitated. First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka
Sepherteladze and Governor of Shida Kartli region Davit Kirkitadze opened newly
reconstructed building.
Georgian schools abroad have new programs and new
textbooks for the new academic year. Dimitri Shashkini, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia,
and Mirza (Papuna) Davitaia, State Minister of Georgia on Diaspora
Issues, presented Georgian Language and Literature, Georgian Geography and
Georgian History textbooks for Georgian students in schools abroad.
13 October 2011 – The International
Day for Disaster Reduction was marked at a special event organized at Europe’s
House by UNICEF, in collaboration with the Government of Georgia, UNDP,
European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO), United States
Agency for International Development (USAID), and Caucasus Environmental NGO
Network (CENN).
The 300 graduates of Caucasus University were granted diplomas in the K.
Marjanishvili drama theatre. The deputy Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia- Mr. Nodar Surguladze attended the ceremony and
applied to the students.
The project “Book Buddy”, initiated by MES, is still running in the public
schools of Georgia. As a part of this project, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia,
Dimitri Shashkini, and the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Dimitri
Gvindadze, visited Tbilisi public school №51.
A new School has been built in the village of Jakhunderi, Lentekhi
municipality. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar
Surguladze, visited the new school.
The Deputy Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze, attended the celebration
of 180th Anniversary of Akhaltsikhe Public School №1 and presented
personal computers to two successful schoolchildren of the school.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, and
the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources opened the laboratory of
renewable energy at the Georgian Technical University.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze,
visited Ozurgeti Public School №5 and opened the lingo phone cabinet.
The Deputy Minister also presented personal computers to 21 tenth graders of
Guria region.
First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka
Sepherteladze, and Board Chair of the company “Airzena Georgian
Airways,” Tamaz Gaiashvili, awarded the winners of the contest “Become an
Aviator”. The awards ceremony was opened with an Aviation Show at the Georgian
Aviation University.
Representatives of different Russian oppositional parties showed their
interest in educational reforms that are now being implemented in Georgia.
They met with the Minister and visited the newly opened Teachers’ House.
Resource officers visited the families of fallen soldiers in Kutaisi and
gave them some presents. They provided the family children with textbooks and other
school materials. In the future, resource officers will continue to
organize such charity events.
Minister
Dimitri Shashkini, the Director of National Center for Teacher Professional
Development Gia Mamulashvili, and the Principal of Tbilisi Public School #24 Gia
Murghulia hosted a group of journalists during their tour of the New "Teacher’s House."
On October 5th, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakshvili opened the newly built Teacher’s House. The purpose of the Teacher’s House is to serve teachers 24 hours a day, including such support as training programs in professional development and all school subjects.
Minister Dimitri Shashkini and Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava presented
Lenovo personal computers to 200 tenth graders of Tbilisi public
schools. These schoolchildren were awarded for their successful
performance at the basic level of education.
From the new academic year, 12th graders will be taught a new subject -
“Traffic Signs and Road Safety”. Deputy Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Giorgi Chakhnashvili, and The Rector of Police Academy, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, visited Tbilisi Public School №24 and
provided 12th graders with textbooks for this new subject.
